Basilica of the Uganda Martyrs, Namugongo
The Basilica of the Uganda Martyrs at Namugongo stands where a number of the Catholic Uganda Martyrs were burned to death in 1886. Consecrated in 1975, its distinctive tent-like structure draws millions of pilgrims each 3 June for one of the largest Christian pilgrimages in Africa.
